करीम
मेरा एक दोस्त हैं जिसका नाम करीम हैं,
उसे लगता हैं मेरी हर ग़ज़ल ताज़ातरीन हैं !
ज़िन्दगी जीने का वो बड़ा शौक़ीन हैं
अल्लाह पर भी उसको बहुत यकीन हैं !
अपने मोहल्ले का वो तबलची नामचीन है
और मीठे से ज्यादा उसको पसंद आता नमकीन हैं !
वो कहता हैं कि मज़हब तो बस जज्बाती ज़मीन हैं
वहाँ खड़े हो जाओ जहा अपना-अपना यकीन हैं !
असल मोहब्बत तो इंसानी भाईचारा और ये सरज़मीन हैं
इससे गद्दारी मतलब खुदा की तौहीन हैं !
मैं जानता हूँ इस मुल्क में ऐसे न जाने कितने करीम हैं
पर उनमे न शामिल अब मेरा दोस्त करीम हैं !
क्युकी कल दंगो में मारा गया करीम हैं
और उसके गम में मेरी ग़ज़ल ग़मगीन हैं |
 

केदार
मेरा एक दोस्त हैं जिसका नाम केदार हैं
वो कहता हैं मेरी हर कविता भगवान का चमत्कार हैं !
दिखने का वो सीधा सा और पेशे से लुहार हैं
मेहनत की रोटी खाता वो आदमी होनहार हैं !
वो मानता हैं कि ये धरम-वरम तो बस बारिश की बौछार हैं
कही भी भीग लो सब कुछ कुदरत का उपहार हैं !
असल प्रेम तो ये मिट्टी और मानवीय सदाचार हैं
इससे वफादारी मतलब भगवान की जयकार हैं !
मैं जानता हूँ इस देश में ऐसे ना जाने कितने केदार हैं
पर उनमे अब ना शामिल मेरा मित्र केदार हैं !
क्योकि कल दंगो में मारा गया केदार हैं
और उसकी कमी से मेरी कविता बेकार हैं !

Lovely story

Unity has strength as we all know

I cannot find a reference online to back this story. But i want to believe in it. I heard this in a gathering conducted in my home town, Calicut (kerala) where all known scholars and religious heads of Hindu, Muslim and Christian communities attended. It was a drive to bring in communal harmony .

There is a juma masjid in calicut which was earlier a Hindu temple and king Zamorin donated this to the muslim communities there for prayers. The trading with Arabs were in full bloom and King though it would help them, and the temple was near the coast. The Idol ( was relocated to central calicut and a major temple is built there. King Zamorin's Naval fleet admirals and sailors consisted majorly Muslims (Mappila's) then led by Kunjali Marakkar. Most of the muslim settlements were near the coast. 

Portugese where trying to build a stronghold on Malabar then which could not happen because they had to defeat the Zamorins navy led by Kunjali Marikkar, and they planned an attack in this Juma Masjid during the Friday Prayers when all major muslim leaders would attend. 

Zamorin came to know of this and he sent his elite guards (I believe it was majorly from Nair community). They where 300 or so in numbers against some fleets of Portugese. A bloody battle happened on the grounds of the Juma masjid when Hindu warriors fend of Portuguese while Muslims could not react in prayer. Many of the Nair warriors were slain and wounded but they held the ground. After the prayer, Moplahs where furious of this treachery and joined the Hindu warriors and unleashed the full wrath of Zamorin forces. It is said that day moplahs from entire malabar coast joined the battle and whatever was left of Portuguese fleet was left to retreat. 

This is the original Indians, our great grand fathers. They bled and dought shoulder to shoulder to protect our land, Its a pity what we have become now. Our ancestors would feel insulted by our actions.

 Personally this story is a great inspiration for me and reminds me of what we can achieve..United. Looking forward to a day when we march together  yet again to prosperity and glory.

Mandir and Masjid unity

The original mosque, believed to be around  200 years old, was getting weak and would have collapsed soon. So it was decided by the Muslims to rebuild the mosque and  Pillai, who is a carpenter, volunteered to take upon himself  the difficult task of demolishing the dome. 

This act of kindness from the local Hindus pleased the Muslims of the Ghorpadi town and when a decision was taken to build a temple in the year 1992, the Muslims reciprocated this kindness.

Shiraj Sheikh, a local architect, came up with a practicable plan. He told the Hindus to build the temple adjacent to the Mosque. People of Ghorpadi loved it and wanted to make this a symbol of unity among the Hindus and Muslims even during the aftermath of the 1992 communal riots.

"We started the Temple work when the country was fighting over Mandir-Masjid. Many Muslims worked for the construction. We even used the water from the Masjid," said Alfred Anthony, President, Kashi Vishweshwar Mandir Trust.

Now after the construction of the new temple was finished  inside the compound of the 200 year old mosque, people saw that the windows of the mosque now opens directly into the temple.

Besides, when it is time for azaan, the arati stops, and when arati is going on, no prayers happen inside the mosque. Nowadays common celebrations  such as Eid, Diwali, Shiv Ratri and Moharram happen all within in the compound .
